Ever since I was a boy I wanted to turn wood and make knives like my grandfather.

In 2015 I first saw the TV show Forged in Fire.  Me and my son were mesmerized!  We built a small forge and immediately starting making small knives.  The more I learned about knife building, the more I learned about wood working, like stabilizing and dying wood.  Then not long after that, I purchased my first lathe.  Since then I have stabilized and turned thousands of pieces of work.

Burl wood is the ugliest part of a tree. It looks like a giant round wart!  But it causes the tree to grow in random crazy patterns just under the bark. While most see it as ugly and something to be discarded, in the right hands it can be dyed, stabilized with resin and turned into something that is a one of a kind.

Much of the wood I use would is destined to be burned or tossed out but I bring out the beauty in it so it can have a second chance.
